Stripe
Collect payment for your WhatsApp Commerce orders with secure Stripe links: the money goes straight to your own Stripe account.
What the app does
- Payments from the chat: for every WhatsApp Commerce order SendApp creates a secure payment link and sends it to the customer on WhatsApp. The customer pays by card on a Stripe page.
- Payments on your website: people who order from your WhatsApp Commerce website pay right after the order, on the same secure Stripe page.
- Order «Paid» on its own: once the customer has paid, the order turns Paid without you doing anything and the customer gets the confirmation in the chat.
- Refunds: refund the whole order or part of it straight from SendApp, without opening Stripe.
- Bookings paid up front: if you take appointments on WhatsApp, you can have the service paid before the appointment is confirmed.
How to connect
- In SendApp open Apps, switch on Stripe Checkout and press Configure.
- You see one box for each of your Accounts (you can use Search by name or number). On the Account of the number you sell with, press Connect with Stripe.
- Stripe opens: sign in to your Stripe account and allow SendApp. There is nothing to copy: at the end you are taken back to SendApp.
- The box shows Connected and Ready to accept payments. If you see To complete instead, Stripe still needs some details: finish your registration on Stripe and open the page again, the status updates on its own.
- Repeat for every number you want to collect payments with: each number has its own connection.
Collecting an order from the chat
- Open WhatsApp Commerce → Dashboard and open the order.
- Press Confirm order and then Request payment. There is nothing else to choose: SendApp creates the link and sends it to the customer.
- If you chose a template for When you request payment (in Automatic messages settings), the link always arrives, even days later. Without a template the customer gets a message with the Pay now button, which WhatsApp delivers only if the customer wrote to you in the last 24 hours. If the message cannot go out, SendApp still creates the link: open it with Open link and send it yourself.
- The customer pays: the order turns Paid and the customer gets the confirmation (with the When the payment arrives template, if you chose one). Even if the customer closes the page before coming back, SendApp checks with Stripe and marks the order paid within a few minutes.
Want it all automatic? In Settings choose Confirm & charge automatically: as soon as the customer finishes the order in the chat, SendApp confirms it and sends the payment link right away. If a customer paid you another way (cash, bank transfer), press Already paid.
Payments on your website
- Open WhatsApp Commerce → Website and, under Orders and payment, choose Online orders.
- Switch on Card payment online (Stripe).
- After the order the customer goes to the secure Stripe page and then comes back to their order page, already marked as paid. The order appears in your Dashboard.
If Stripe is not connected to that number, website orders arrive as requests and you send the payment link yourself from the Dashboard, as for chat orders.
Refunds
- Open the order paid with Stripe and go to the Return & refund section.
- To refund everything, leave the amount empty. For a partial refund, type the amount in Amount. If you like, add the Reason (optional).
- Press Issue refund and confirm with Refund.
- The money goes back to the customer through Stripe and is taken from your Stripe balance. The customer gets a message in the chat (with the When you refund an order template, if you chose one).
- A refund cannot be undone and cannot be more than the order total.
- A partial refund leaves the order as it is (you see Partially refunded) and you can refund the rest later. Once everything is refunded, the order turns Cancelled.
Bookings paid up front
If the number takes appointments on WhatsApp (Booking mode, with Google Calendar connected), in Settings you find Require payment to book: switch on Charge the service up front (Stripe).
- The customer picks the service, day and time in the chat and gets the link to pay.
- The appointment is created and confirmed only after payment: someone who does not pay takes no slot. The request stays valid for one hour.
- It applies to services that have a price. On the phone, with the voice assistant, the booking is made without payment up front.
What the customer sees
The customer pays on a secure Stripe page. Then they see a result page in your shop's language: Payment successful, or Payment cancelled if they gave up (in that case nothing was charged). From there they can close the page and go back to the chat.
Good to know
- The money goes straight to your Stripe account. The customer types their card details on the Stripe page: SendApp does not see them.
- SendApp adds no fees to payments: only the fees of your Stripe account apply, and you find them in your Stripe area.
- Each WhatsApp number has its own Stripe connection: connect Stripe on every number you want to collect payments with.
- Disconnect in Stripe Checkout removes the connection from that number: from then on no payment links can be created. The orders stay in SendApp.
- Operators can request payments and issue refunds only if they have permissions on orders.
- The app is included only in some SendApp plans and needs WhatsApp Commerce: check the Apps included in your plan.
