Microsoft Dynamics 365
When data changes in Microsoft Dynamics 365, such as a new contact, you can send the customer a WhatsApp message.
Before you start
- In SendApp: WhatsApp connected and a template approved by Meta.
- In Microsoft: data in Microsoft Dataverse and Power Automate with a license that covers HTTP actions (Power Automate Premium or Process), plus permissions on the Callback Registration table.
1. Paste the address into Microsoft Dynamics 365
- On the Integrations page open the Microsoft Dynamics 365 card, choose the AI account and press Create automation: a switched-off automation opens, with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 event already chosen.
- Copy the address you find ready with Copy. It belongs to this automation only: keep it private, whoever has it can start it.
- In Power Automate, create an Automated cloud flow starting from When a row is added, modified or deleted (Microsoft Dataverse) and fill in Change type, Table name and Scope.
- Add the HTTP action with the POST method, the address as the URL to call and a JSON body with the columns to send, including the phone. For the field names, see Data example (for your technician) in the editor.
- Save the flow and check that it is on.
2. Run a test in Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Leave the SendApp automation switched off: the call is saved as an example and no message goes out. The Power Automate flow must be on.
- Create or change a test row in the chosen table.
- Then come back to the editor: the data appears by itself in a few seconds.
3. Check the data received
In the editor the fields received appear by themselves, with their values. If you do not see them, press Refresh. What counts is what you see in the test. This guide lists no fields because they depend on how you set up Microsoft Dynamics 365. If nothing appears, check the pasted address.
Then finish the automation
- Under Who the contact is, leave Recognise automatically or pick the phone field yourself: a WhatsApp template needs the full number with its international prefix, so check it in the test.
- Select the Send WhatsApp template step, pick the template and, for each parameter, pick the field from the Data received group.
- Save and switch the SendApp automation on, then repeat the test with your own number.
Good to know
- Promotional messages need the customer's consent.
- If you generate a new address, the old one stops working at once: paste the new one into Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365's menu names come from its official documentation and may change.
